We will be taking another hard look at mandatory COVID vaccination programs, requirements, and options for our member companies here in Virginia and elsewhere.  A number of questions about COVID vaccination programs were raised in our October meeting, and we want to address those and any others our members may have in our upcoming Committee meeting on November 3rd. 

We will address what both federal and state law permit and require in regard to COVID vaccinations in the workplace, and will invite members to share their own strategies and tactics on implementing thoughtful and workable vaccination programs on the waterfront and more generally here in Hampton Roads (and, time permitting, in other states where our members have workers assigned).  So please come with your vaccination questions and be prepared to share your own experience/insights with your fellow Committee members. We look forward to seeing you there!

Cableway Improvement Program (CIP) Installation, Repair and Inspection (November 15-19)

This course is under the oversight of HII Technical Solutions and upon successful completion attendees will receive a NAVSEA Cableway Certification card. The cableway program provides NAVSEA Cableway training and certification to students.

OSHA 10 Hour Maritime Industry Course (November 15-16)

The OSHA-10 hour course awards the 10-hour certification card and meets all of the mandated regulations for the Maritime Industry (OSHA Code of Federal Regulations 29 CFR 1915) course in a format that specifically addresses the challenges and environmental conditions specific to the shipyards. In addition, ship yard specific regulations and issues are covered in depth. Instructors are authorized by OSHA endorsed certification programs. Cards are issued through the Instructor's certifying body. All book, material and certification costs are covered in the course fee.
