Our May speaker will be Alexander Perez, an Investigator from the Norfolk office of the EEOC, who will present to us on preventing and responding to incidents of illegal workplace harassment.  In addition to sharing his prepared remarks on the topic with us, Mr. Perez will answer questions our members have about how best to avoid trouble and to stay on the right side of the law and the EEOC’s policies with regard to harassment in the workplace.  We hope you can join us!

OSHA 10 Hour Maritime Industry Course (May 15-16)

The OSHA-10 hour course awards the 10-hour certification card and meets all of the mandated regulations for the Maritime Industry (OSHA Code of Federal Regulations 29 CFR 1915) course in a format that specifically addresses the challenges and environmental conditions specific to the shipyards. In addition, ship yard specific regulations and issues are covered in depth. Instructors are authorized by OSHA endorsed certification programs. Cards are issued through the Instructor's certifying body. All book, material and certification costs are covered in the course fee.

VSRA General Membership Luncheon Meeting

VSRA Board of Directors meetings are held on the odd numbered months. The General Membership Luncheon meetings are held every month.

Shipboard Cableway Inspection (May 22-24)

This course is under the oversight of HII Technical Solutions and upon successful completion attendees will receive a NAVSEA Cableway Certification card. The cableway program provides NAVSEA Cableway training and certification to students.

Introduction to Blueprint Reading & Technical Drawing (May 22-26)

This course is designed for rising welders, pipefitters, ship-fitters, electricians and workers who need a working knowledge of blueprint technology, symbols and design features specific to ships.

Emergency First Response Certification (May 24)

Emergency First Response training is OSHA approved and internationally accepted.  This course meets the OSHA Guidelines CFR 1910.151 compliance standards for workplace safety.
