Insider's View of Mergers & Acquisitions in Ship Repair
Throughout his extensive career in ship repair management, and in particular as the President and CEO of MHI Ship Repair & Services, Inc. for over ten years, Tom Epley, has experienced a variety of merger and acquisition transactions in ship repair. A member of VSRA’s Board of Directors, Tom will share his insight into the M&A process and specific issues for prospective sellers to consider. Accentuated by seasoned M&A professionals Ed Amorosso, of BDO, and Chuck McPhillips of Kaufman & Canoles, the discussion will closely examine topics that include:
- Tension between maintaining confidentiality and engaging the seller’s management team
- Factors that affect valuation (including the effects of small business set aside contracts)
- Differences between sales to private equity investors and strategic buyers
- Special considerations of an Employee Stock Ownership Plan
The panel will also discuss questions raised by members of the audience. Bob Korroch of Williams Mullen will serve as the panel’s moderator. This program promises to provide a dynamic discussion of critical M&A issues in the context of relevant real-world experience in our region’s ship repair market.
